Windows SteadyState
Are you ready to download Windows SteadyState for your genuine Windows XP or Windows Vista computer? There's no charge. Download it now, or look around and learn more.
Comments: Keeping multiple computers running is tough. Steady State (free) drops any changes to the system upon reboot. Motel lobbies would be a good application.
Sorry Mr. Windows 7, Microsoft says no plans to support. Too bad, it works well.

CMOS Clear On Laptop
I don't know if this works on every laptop but it works on some. When you power up, while bios is attempting to initialize, press and hold the power to stop the bios from full post. It may be useful when changing a NIC or other strange circumstances.

Gina on Domain Reg. War Path
Gina Trapani has her underwear in a bundle over Go Daddy adds. I must say I find Go Daddy irritating for other reasons and plan to try Gina's suggestion of Namecheap.com next time I register a domain that I only want to park. I am using Host Monster now for a marginally inactive site. Good old Blogger and PBworks is serving my needs for most stuff.

Tweak Windows 7 Services with SMART Utility
We are pleased to release SMART (Service Management And RealEasy Tweaking) Utility v 1.0 for Windows 7. SMART is a freeware utility which helps you tweak Windows 7 Services, based on the suggested configurations of BlackVipers.

Comments: Just when I said I don't tweak Win7 all that much, here is a "smart" service tweaker. I do some tweaking. And some systems are low powered and benefit from more tweaking than others. What appeals to me as first look about this little program is the "Default Settings" button. It is nice to be able to go back to default if you break something during tweak craziness and want to start over.
