Clone a Hard Drive Using an Ubuntu Live CD - How-To Geek
Comments: I had to clone a hard drive recently and fortunately I had Acronis 10 which worked fine but what if I had nothing: Ubuntu Live is always a download away and How-To-Geek has the instructions.
Edit: EaseUS To Do does a great job. You do need to disable the service and the two start ups when done, if you don't want them to be taking resources when you are no longer using the program. Remember to turn on the service again if you need to use the program.
Whether you’re setting up multiple computers or doing a full backup, cloning hard drives is a common maintenance task. Don’t bother burning a new boot CD or paying for new software – you can do it easily with your Ubuntu Live CD.
