Is your laptop burning your lap and the fans driving you crazy? First blow out your vents with some type of compressed air. You may be surprised by how much dust has accumulated in your vents and on your fans.
Then . . .
Then . . .
Under volt your Intel processors with this. Go to "core" then "core voltage offset" and scroll up for minus numbers. Minus 0.050 should easily be stable. The laptop I am on right now is fine at -0.150 and my maximum benchmark temp is lower by 8C. Benchmark at each setting to check temp numbers and basic stability before "applying". If you are paranoid, you could stress test for an hour but I don't bother. Saving profiles allows for quickly changing settings in case you want to game or do something that requires higher voltage. I have under volted processors for years without any casualties other than when you under volt to low the computer crashes. Just restart and turn up the voltage.
If you are operating you artificial heart with your laptop, disregard this recommendation. Otherwise just do it.
