I've used Symenu for ages and appreciate the broad selection of apps and the easy updating of those apps.
The easy update days are over, at least for the main Symenu app. It often fails, especially if you have not updated it for any extended length of time.
Here is a fix that worked for me recently. Hopefully it will keep working.
The Error:
When updating the Symenu program it fails and says download and "install" manually.
This is hilarious because it is a stand-alone program and does not install.
I guess we could argue about the definition of "install".
Try This
(Make sure Symenu is not running)
1. Download the exe package
2. Run the package
3. Direct it to the existing Symenu folder
All of the program files will be overwritten but the portable programs and settings will be untouched.
or
1. Download the Symenu zip and unzip.
2. Open the newly unzipped folder.
3. Open your existing Symenu folder.
4. Make sure Symenu is not running.
5. Copy all of the files from the unzipped folder and paste into the existing Symenu folder.
All of the program files will be overwritten but the portable programs and settings will be untouched.
