PogoPlug Kills Network Bandwidth

First off just don't buy a Pogoplug. It simply kills the local network.

If you must have a Pogoplug because it is cheap then the very first thing you must do is activate the device. Plug it into the router and go to:
http://pogoplug.com/activate/
If your light is solid green then the device will probably activate.
I did not have any interest in backing up to the cloud, I just wanted to access an attached drive.
After activation I  could see the attached drive and its files.
Despite not doing cloud backup and not transferring any file, the internet was basically unusable. Whether this was local network saturation or internet bandwidth, I have no idea. But there is scarce technical information to help even if adjustments would help. I am on a 10Meg DSL connection.

I have not idea why just having PP attached would kill the network. I glad it was cheap $24 because it is useless to me.

Comments: This does work. Simply set up your free 5GB of cloud storage. Then buy the 89 cent album and select store in the cloud. Your 5GB will jump to 20GB. After the year you will be charged the standard rate and will need to discontinue if the 20GB is not wanted. I just couldn't pass up doing it and besides, I always liked the sound of rain.

To upload files it appears one needs some lame "helper" app that I have not yet tried. But this cloud storage of music should be a big deal for digital music junkies.
